This is part 5 in a series about FM Dashboard’s company values. This series is all about giving you a behind the scenes look at our philosophies and processes behind creating a new way of doing work order software. Our final value is: Constant improvement. We are firm believers that complacency kills innovation. New companies don’t have to worry about this. When you are new, everything is exciting. You don’t have to manufacture energy or put extra effort into going above and beyond. You just do it.As companies grow and feel secure, they begin to get complacent. They become comfortable with their success, customers, and their perceived stability. They go from “This needs to be better!” to “It’s good enough.” From “How can we add revenue by adding more value?” to “How can we charge more for what we are already doing?”You have probably experienced this yourself. You hire a maintenance contractor or supplier who exceeds your expectations right away. Then down the road, service levels start to slip. Eventually you look for a replacement. I have found opportunities don’t look like wide open doors. They look more like doors someone failed to close all the way.

I have found opportunities don’t look like wide open doors. They look more like doors someone failed to close all the way.

When companies grow complacent they leave room for new companies to squeeze in. We are seeing this in our industry right now. Run a Google search and see how many maintenance or work order management software programs there are. Take a look at them. When was the last time they made a major update to their system? When was the last time their website was even updated?FM Dashboard’s major advantage and strength is this. We are not stuck in old-school thinking, old technology, and old ways of doing business. We are not riding the wave of our past successes. We are a company that is driven by constant improvement. We are not going to settle because our customers believe our product is the best. We are going to continue to compete with ourselves. We must constantly improve.
